Southampton Marina Transfers
Fixed-fare taxis to Ocean Village Marina, Town Quay, Shamrock Quay and Hythe Marina Village — for boat owners, crew changeovers, Southampton Boat Show visitors and anyone on the water who needs a driver who knows the pontoons, not just the postcode.
We run fixed-fare transfers to all four of Southampton's marinas — Ocean Village, Town Quay, Shamrock Quay and Hythe Marina Village — from Southampton Airport, Southampton Central Station or anywhere else, from £15. We handle crew kit bags and sailing gear, work to early or last-minute timings, and know each marina's gate and pontoon layout.
Southampton's Four Marinas
Southampton Water and its two rivers, the Test and the Itchen, hold four working marinas — each with its own gate code, pontoon numbering and access road. We drop and collect at each one, not at a generic "Southampton" pin.
| Marina | Postcode | From Southampton Airport | From Central Station |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ocean Village Marina | SO14 3QF | ~4 miles · 12–18 min | ~1.3 miles · 8–12 min |
| Town Quay | SO14 2AQ | ~5 miles · 15–20 min | ~1 mile · 6–10 min |
| Shamrock Quay | SO14 5QL | ~5.5 miles · 15–20 min | ~2 miles · 8–12 min |
| Hythe Marina Village | SO45 6DX | ~13 miles · 25–35 min | ~10 miles · 20–30 min |
Ocean Village sits closest to the Cruise Terminals and the city's Eastern side; Town Quay is right by West Quay and the old town; Shamrock Quay is upriver on the Itchen in Northam, popular with long-term berth holders and boatyards. Distances and times are approximate driving estimates and change with traffic through the city's one-way system.
Getting To Hythe Marina Village — Why It's Not A Short Hop
Hythe sits directly opposite Southampton across Southampton Water — under two miles by boat — but there is no bridge, so road traffic has to go the long way round.
The road route
- By car, Hythe Marina Village is reached via the M271 and A326 through Totton and Marchwood — around 13 miles and 25 to 35 minutes from Southampton Airport, longer at peak times.
- It is the only practical door-to-door option while the passenger ferry is out of action.
The ferry, currently
- The Hythe Ferry, which normally crosses Southampton Water between Town Quay and Hythe Pier in around 10 minutes, has been suspended since 22 August 2024 following damage to the Hythe Pier pontoon.
- If you were planning to use it, check its current status before you travel — until it resumes, a pre-booked road transfer is the dependable way to reach Hythe from the city or the airport.
Southampton International Boat Show — 18 to 27 September 2026
Held at Mayflower Park on the waterfront, the Boat Show is Southampton's busiest week of the year for exhibitors, crew and visitors moving between the airport, the marinas and the showground.
Why pre-book for the show
- Roads and parking around Mayflower Park and Town Quay get significantly busier for the run of the show, with restrictions close to the site itself.
- Exhibitor and crew arrivals often start before dawn and finish late — outside the hours a casual rank taxi is easy to find.
- A fixed fare booked in advance means no surge pricing on the show's peak days.
What we cover
- Airport and station transfers to and from the showground and nearby marinas, both directions.
- Multi-stop bookings for exhibitor teams and crew arriving on different flights or trains.
- Late-finish collections after the show closes for the evening.
Crew Changeovers & Charter Turnarounds
Yacht and charter crew changeovers rarely happen on a convenient schedule — we work around the boat's timing, not office hours.
- Flexible, last-minute bookingCrew changes are often confirmed the day before, or the day of. Call or WhatsApp and we will fit you in — 24 hours a day, including early departures.
- Kit bags, not suitcasesSailing kit, wet gear and multiple crew bags per person are the norm on a changeover — tell us headcount and bag count and we send an estate, MPV or minibus, not a saloon that won't fit it all.
- Multiple pickups, one bookingCollecting crew from different addresses, stations or the airport for the same sailing is something we do routinely — one point of contact for the whole change.
Southampton Marina Fares
Fixed fares from Southampton Airport or Southampton Central Station, agreed before you travel.
| Journey | Fixed fare (from) | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Southampton Airport → Ocean Village / Town Quay | £18 | 12–20 min |
| Southampton Airport → Shamrock Quay | £20 | 15–20 min |
| Southampton Central Station → any city marina | £15 | 6–12 min |
| Southampton Airport or Station → Hythe Marina Village | Quoted on request | 20–35 min |
City-marina fares shown for a saloon, up to 3 passengers and 2 large cases or kit bags. Hythe is quoted individually because of the longer road route — call or WhatsApp for an instant fixed price, both directions. Estate, MPV and minibus vehicles for crew changeovers and larger groups are quoted the same way.
Why Pre-Book A Marina Transfer
- Fixed quote agreed before you travel — no meter running while you load kit bags.
- Drivers who know each marina's gate code, car park and pontoon walk, not just a postcode pin.
- Multiple pickups for one crew or one show team, coordinated as a single booking.
- 24-hour availability for early sailings, late finishes and last-minute changeovers.
- Licensed, insured private hire drivers, the same standard as our airport and cruise transfers.
Southampton Marina Transfers — Frequently Asked Questions
Do you go to Ocean Village Marina?
Yes, door to berth. Ocean Village is about 4 miles from Southampton Airport and under a mile and a half from Southampton Central Station — a 12 to 18 minute drive from the airport, or 8 to 12 minutes from the station.
Can you take me to Shamrock Quay Marina?
Yes. Shamrock Quay is on the River Itchen in Northam, about 5.5 miles from Southampton Airport (15 to 20 minutes) and around 2 miles from Southampton Central Station (8 to 12 minutes).
Is there a taxi to Hythe Marina Village?
Yes. Hythe sits directly across Southampton Water from the city, but there is no road bridge, so the drive goes round via Totton and Marchwood — roughly 13 miles and 25 to 35 minutes from Southampton Airport. The passenger ferry between Town Quay and Hythe Pier has been suspended since August 2024 due to pontoon damage, so a road transfer is currently the reliable option — we recommend checking the ferry's current status if you were planning to use it.
Do you do transfers for the Southampton Boat Show?
Yes. The Southampton International Boat Show runs at Mayflower Park from 18 to 27 September 2026. Roads and parking around the showground get busy and restricted for the run, so we recommend pre-booking both legs — especially early-morning exhibitor arrivals and late finishes.
Can you collect boat crew for a changeover?
Yes, this is one of our regular jobs. We handle crew kit bags, work to tight or last-minute timings, can collect multiple crew from different addresses for one sailing, and run 24 hours for early departures and late arrivals.
How much luggage can you carry to a marina?
A saloon takes 2 large cases or kit bags, an estate 4, a 6-seat MPV 6, and an 8-seat minibus 8. Sailing kit and crew bags are often bulkier than standard luggage, so tell us what you're bringing and we'll size the vehicle correctly.
What is the postcode for each Southampton marina?
Ocean Village Marina is SO14 3QF, Town Quay is SO14 2AQ, Shamrock Quay is SO14 5QL, and Hythe Marina Village is SO45 6DX.
