How we get you from Dartford into London
There is no single best road from Dartford to central London; it depends on which side of the river you are heading to and when you leave. For Canary Wharf, the City and anything north of the Thames, the driver takes the A2 past Bexleyheath, joins the A102 at Kidbrooke and goes through the Blackwall Tunnel. From there it is a short run along Aspen Way to the Isle of Dogs, or on through Whitechapel to Liverpool Street and Bank.
For the West End, Victoria, Waterloo and anything south of the river, the A2 to New Cross and then the Old Kent Road is usually faster. It brings you out at Elephant and Castle with a straight run to Waterloo, Westminster Bridge and Victoria, or over Blackfriars Bridge for Holborn.
Drivers know when to abandon both: the Silvertown Tunnel when Blackwall is closed overnight, the A20 through Lewisham when the A2 is backed up. The fare is fixed, so the driver simply picks the quickest line on the day.
