Dartford to Luton: which way round the M25
Luton sits north of London, almost directly opposite Dartford on the M25. That gives our drivers a genuine choice of direction, made on the day from live traffic.
Clockwise via the crossing. M25 Junction 1a, through the tunnels northbound, then round through Essex and Hertfordshire past Brentwood, Waltham Cross and Potters Bar to Junction 21a, where the M1 heads north. Luton Airport is off M1 Junction 10, a short run along the A1081. About 55 miles and the usual choice. The £2.50 Dart Charge is in your fare.
Anti-clockwise via Surrey. M25 Junction 2 south, round the bottom of London past Sevenoaks, Reigate and Heathrow, then up the western side to the M1. Longer at around 70 miles, but it avoids the crossing and can be faster when the tunnels are shut.
