Where we pick up in Beckenham

Getting out of Beckenham: what actually matters
Beckenham is unusually well connected for somewhere this far out: the Junction carries Southeastern trains to Victoria and London Bridge and is the eastern terminus of Tramlink to Croydon and Wimbledon. That is fine on a Tuesday morning. It is no use at all at 4am for a Gatwick departure, and it is no use with a family's luggage, which is where most of our Beckenham work comes from.
The geography matters for airport timings. Beckenham sits between the A222 and the A21, so the Gatwick run goes out through Croydon to the M23 rather than round the M25 — 23.8 miles and usually quicker than the map suggests outside the peak. Heathrow is the awkward one at 25.3 miles, because there is no good westward road from BR3: the choice is the A205 South Circular to the M4 or the M25 anticlockwise, and which is faster changes by the hour. We pick on the morning, not the week before.
London City is the closest airport to Beckenham at 10.4 miles, through the Blackwall or Rotherhithe tunnel. It is the run where a fixed price saves the most, because the tunnel charges now vary by time of day and are handled inside your fare rather than billed to you afterwards.

Is it cheaper to get the tram to Croydon and a train to Gatwick?
Cheaper for one person travelling light, yes. For two or more with cases the fixed fare of £92 in a saloon usually wins once you have paid two tram fares and two Gatwick Express or Southern tickets, and it is door to terminal.
Can you collect from Beckenham Place Park events?
Yes. Give us the entrance you will be at — Beckenham Hill Road for the mansion and lake, Southend Road for the golf side — because the park is large enough that the wrong gate is a twenty-minute walk.
