Erith to Abbey Wood – the taxi leg of the fast way into town
The Elizabeth line has changed how Erith gets to London. From Abbey Wood it is around 11 minutes to Canary Wharf, 20 to Liverpool Street and under an hour to Heathrow, but Abbey Wood is two miles away and the bus takes the long route through Belvedere. A taxi from Erith to Abbey Wood is from £12 and takes ten to fifteen minutes via Picardy Manorway or the A2016 Bronze Age Way.
Coming home, the last Elizabeth line trains reach Abbey Wood after midnight and the station forecourt on Harrow Manorway empties fast. Pre-book and we will be there with your train tracked, so a delay at Whitechapel does not leave you standing outside at 1am.
Erith's own station
Erith station is on the North Kent line with Southeastern services to Cannon Street and Charing Cross via Woolwich and Greenwich, and to Dartford and Gravesend the other way. It is a decent option for London Bridge. We collect outside the entrance on Stonewood Road; give us your train time and the driver will be waiting.
Slade Green
Slade Green station, one stop towards Dartford, serves the estates south of the railway. A car from Slade Green to Erith town centre is from £6, and to Dartford from £10.
Getting around Erith – Riverside shopping, the pier and the estates
Most of our Erith work is local. The Riverside Shopping Centre and the Morrisons on James Watt Way generate constant short trips home with bags, from £5 within the town and £8 out to Belvedere or Northumberland Heath. Airport taxis from DA8 – City is closest, Stansted is closer than you think
Erith is one of the nearest parts of Kent to London City Airport. The run is from £35 and takes 20 to 35 minutes: Bronze Age Way and the A2016 through Thamesmead to Woolwich, then under the river by the Silvertown or Blackwall tunnel and along the A13 into Silvertown. The Woolwich Ferry lands almost next to the airport but its timetable is too unreliable for a flight, so we only use it if you ask. Either way there is no drop-off charge at City.
Stansted is nearer than people expect because the Dartford Crossing is a few minutes away at Junction 1a. Tunnels northbound, M25 to Junction 27, M11 to Junction 8: from £80, 45 to 70 minutes, Dart Charge and the £7 drop-off included.
