Finding you on Castle Hill, Alkerden and Ebbsfleet Green
Ebbsfleet Garden City is being built in phases across the former Eastern Quarry and the land between Swanscombe and Ebbsfleet station. Castle Hill was first, with its primary school and the market square; Alkerden is following with the new secondary academy; Ebbsfleet Green sits on the far side by the A2. Streets have been added every few months and satnavs lag behind, which is why residents tell us drivers from further afield ring from the wrong side of the quarry.

Swanscombe station, the High Street and Craylands
The original Swanscombe is a working town of terraces built for the cement industry, with a High Street, the Heritage Park, the church at the top of the hill and a small Southeastern station at the bottom of Station Road. Trains run to Gravesend one way and Dartford, Woolwich and London Charing Cross the other, roughly every half hour, which is exactly the gap a pre-booked car saves you.
Craylands Lane and the Craylands estate, Milton Road, Swanscombe Street and the roads up to Galley Hill are all doorstep pickups with 15 minutes of free waiting. The station is the tricky one: Station Road is narrow, there is no forecourt to speak of, and the level crossing at the bottom can hold the car up. We meet arriving passengers on the Station Road side unless you ask otherwise, and the driver sends a message when parked.
- Late trains: the last London service back to Swanscombe is after midnight; book ahead and the car waits with tracking, so a delay is not your problem.
- Swanscombe to Greenhithe: a couple of minutes along London Road, useful when the train you want stops only at Greenhithe.
Swanscombe to Ebbsfleet International in eight minutes
For Swanscombe, Ebbsfleet International is the quick way into London. HS1 gets you to St Pancras in 17 minutes and to Stratford in ten, so a car to the station followed by the high-speed train usually beats every other route into town. Most of DA10 is a five-to-eight-minute run along Southfleet Road or through Castle Hill, from £8.
On the outward trip, let us know which train you are catching and we will time the pickup so you have a sensible margin without twenty minutes on the platform. Homeward, we follow your train out of St Pancras and wait on the forecourt by the main entrance, holding a name board if you have guests who have never used the station.
Ebbsfleet also has the biggest car parks around, so we regularly get calls from people who drove in only to find their train cancelled. Airport and cruise transfers out of DA10
With an A2 junction at either end of the town, an airport car out of Swanscombe is up to motorway speed within minutes of leaving your street.
