Joydens Wood Taxi

Joydens Wood is a big residential estate with no station of its own, so most journeys start with a car. Taxi On The Go runs pre-booked, fixed-fare private hire from every road on the estate – Summerhouse Drive, Tile Kiln Lane, Birchwood Road and the closes off them – to Bexley station, Dartford, Bluewater and all the London airports. We are based in Dartford, ten minutes away, and cover the estate around the clock. See the full price list or ask for a quote.

Quick answer

Taxi On The Go supplies Joydens Wood with pre-booked private hire cars at a price agreed before you travel: Bexley station from £7, Dartford or Sidcup from £12, Bluewater from £16, London City Airport from £42, Gatwick from £70 and Heathrow from £88. The service never closes – every hour, every day of the year – and there is no booking fee or card charge. Book online, via WhatsApp, or by ringing 020 8888 9988.

What a taxi from Joydens Wood costs

Guide fares for a standard saloon leaving from the Joydens Wood estate, one way. The price is confirmed when you book and does not change if traffic is bad on the A2 or the Dartford Crossing is queuing. Estates and 6-seat MPVs cost roughly a quarter more; the 8-seat minibus about half as much again. Airport drop-off charges are already in the figure.

One-way guide prices for a standard saloon; the final figure depends on your precise address and the vehicle you choose. Where a journey involves the Dart Charge, ULEZ or an airport drop-off fee, that is already counted in. Booking costs nothing and neither does paying by card.

KNOWING THE ROADS

Why local knowledge matters on the Joydens Wood estate

Joydens Wood sits on the Dartford and Bexley border, which is why addresses on the estate come up as DA2 on one side and DA5 on the other. It is a maze of cul-de-sacs and crescents off Summerhouse Drive and Tile Kiln Lane, and a driver who has never been there can lose five minutes looping round trying to find the right close. Our drivers do this estate several times a day.

Access is one of the quirks. The main way in from the Dartford side is via Old Bexley Lane and Tile Kiln Lane; from the Bexley village side it is Baldwyns Park and Summerhouse Drive. If there are roadworks on Old Bexley Lane – which happens more than you would think – we know to come round through Bexley rather than sit in it.

  • Pickup points we use daily: the parade of shops on Summerhouse Drive, the Joydens Wood Primary School gates at drop-off and pickup times, and the paths at the top of the estate by the woodland itself.
  • Postcodes covered: DA2 7 and DA5 2 – plus Baldwyns Park, Bexley village, Coldblow and the Old Bexley Lane end of Wilmington.
  • Waiting time: 15 minutes free at a home pickup, useful when you are getting children and cases out of the door.

From our Dartford base a car is usually with you in ten to fifteen minutes on the day; for airports or an early train, book the night before so the driver is allocated.

GETTING TO THE TRAIN

Joydens Wood to Bexley station, Dartford station and back

The nearest railway station is Bexley, on the Southeastern line through Sidcup to London Charing Cross and Cannon Street. It is about a mile and a half from the middle of the estate but the walk is along unlit stretches of Old Bexley Lane, so a taxi from £7 is what most people do, especially in winter or with luggage.

Dartford station is the other option – from £12 – and it gives you more choice: the Bexleyheath line, the Sidcup line and the North Kent line via Greenwich all leave from there, along with fast services to Victoria. If you are heading to Ebbsfleet International for the 17-minute HS1 service to St Pancras, that is from £15 and takes around a quarter of an hour via the A2.

Late trains home

The last trains into Bexley get in after midnight and the taxi rank outside is not staffed. Book your return before you leave London and the driver will be waiting outside the station entrance on Station Road. Tell us your train time and we track it – if it runs late, so does your car, at no extra cost.

School runs

Regular bookings for Bexley Grammar and Dartford Grammar students can be set up as a standing job at a fixed weekly price.

FLYING FROM DA2 / DA5

Airport transfers from Joydens Wood – Gatwick, Heathrow, City and Stansted

Joydens Wood is well placed for airports because the A2 and M25 Junction 2 are only a few minutes away down Old Bexley Lane. Gatwick is the quickest, from £70: A2 to M25 J2, then clockwise to J7 and down the M23, usually 45 to 65 minutes outside the peaks. Heathrow is from £88 – M25 anticlockwise to J15, or the A2, Blackwall Tunnel and M4 at night when the tunnel is quiet.

London City – from £42

Straight down the A2 and A102 to Blackwall, then the A13 to Silvertown. Half an hour off-peak. Handy for the early Edinburgh and Amsterdam flights.

Stansted – from £84

Over the QEII bridge, M25 to J27 and up the M11 to J8. Dart Charge and the £7 drop-off are in the fare.

Luton – from £92

Anticlockwise round the M25 to J21, then the M1. Allow 70 to 100 minutes. £5 drop-off included.

Every airport fare includes the terminal drop-off charge, so there is nothing added when you get there. On the way back, the driver tracks your flight and you get 45 minutes free waiting after landing. Meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name board is available on request. For more detail on each airport see our airport transfers page, or the dedicated Gatwick and Heathrow pages.

WHY A FIXED FARE

Fixed price, allocated driver – the difference on an estate like this

The app-based services do reach Joydens Wood, but the estate sits far enough from their busy zones that the closest driver is frequently a quarter of an hour away in Bexleyheath or Dartford – and at 4am there may be no one at all. Surge pricing then arrives precisely when a car matters most: school-run mornings, Friday nights, the eve of a bank holiday.

A car booked with us works in reverse. You give us the time, we assign a driver and a vehicle, and the fare is settled at booking. If the A2 shuts at Bexley or a lorry goes over on the M25, you still pay what you were quoted.

  • Licensed, DBS-checked drivers – holding private hire licences and insured for hire and reward.
  • Cash, card or invoice – no surcharge on cards, with business accounts for frequent travellers.
  • The right vehicle for the job – a saloon carries four, an estate takes the extra bags, and we have 6-seat MPVs, 8-seat minibuses and executive Mercedes E and V-Class cars for client work.
  • Child seats at no charge – just give us the ages when you book.

We are based in Dartford rather than a call centre somewhere else – whoever picks up the phone knows exactly where Summerhouse Drive is.

ALSO COVERED

Bexley village, Coldblow, Wilmington and the roads either side

Popular short runs

  • Bluewater – from £16, about 15 minutes via the A2 and the Bean interchange. Late returns after the cinema are no problem.
  • Darent Valley Hospital – from £11, for appointments, visiting and discharge pickups.
  • Sidcup and Queen Mary's Hospital – from £12.
  • Bexleyheath Broadway – from £11 for shopping or the cinema.

Joydens Wood taxi questions

How much is a taxi from Joydens Wood to Bexley station?

From £7 for a standard saloon, one way. It is a five-to-eight minute run down Old Bexley Lane and Station Road. For the return, book before you get on the train and the driver will wait outside the station entrance – we track the train so a delay does not cost you anything.

Is Joydens Wood in Dartford or Bexley?

Both, depending on the road. The estate straddles the border, so some addresses are Dartford DA2 and others are Bexley DA5. It makes no difference to our fares – we cover every road on the estate from our Dartford base, about ten minutes away.

What is the fare from Joydens Wood to Gatwick?

From £70 in a saloon, including the £7 terminal drop-off charge. The route is Old Bexley Lane to the A2, M25 Junction 2, clockwise to Junction 7 and down the M23. Allow 45 to 65 minutes off-peak, longer between 7am and 9am on a weekday.

How long does it take from Joydens Wood to Heathrow?

Typically 60 to 85 minutes. In daylight hours the driver runs the M25 anticlockwise from Junction 2 round to Junction 15; after dark the A2 through the Blackwall Tunnel and on to the M4 is often faster. Whichever way the driver goes, a saloon is from £88 with the £6 drop-off fee included.

Can I get a taxi from Joydens Wood at 4am?

Yes. We run 24 hours a day, every day. Early pickups are booked the evening before so a driver is allocated and you are not relying on an app finding a car nearby. You will have the driver's registration by text before you go to bed.

Do you go to Bluewater from Joydens Wood?

From £16, taking about 15 minutes via the A2 and the Bean interchange. We drop by whichever entrance you ask for and can collect from the same spot afterwards – late cinema screenings and Boxing Day sales included.

Which vehicles are available?

The saloon carries four people and two large suitcases; an estate takes more luggage; and beyond that we have a six-seat MPV, an eight-seat minibus and executive Mercedes in E-Class or V-Class form. Let us know the headcount and bag count and we will send the vehicle that fits. There is no charge for child seats – just ask.

How do I pay for a Joydens Wood taxi?

Cash or card with the driver – there is no card surcharge – or by business invoice if you have an account with us. The fare is fixed when you book, so what you are quoted is what you pay.

Can you take me to Darent Valley Hospital from the estate?

About £11 for a saloon, and the drive along the A2 and Darenth Wood Road takes ten to fourteen minutes. The driver will set you down at the main entrance or A&E, and we can collect you again once the appointment ends or you are discharged. Let us know in advance if you need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
