Hextable Taxi – Village Pickups Between Swanley and Dartford

Hextable Gardens, with its walled garden and the Heritage Centre in the old school, is the kind of landmark every local driver should know and most out-of-town ones do not. It is also the centre of a village with no railway station and only a couple of bus routes. Taxi On The Go fills the gap with pre-booked, fixed-fare cars at any hour: Swanley station from £8, Dartford from £15 and Gatwick from £64 via M25 Junction 3.

HEXTABLE GARDENS TO EMERSONS

Where we collect in Hextable

Hextable runs along the B258 College Road and Main Road from the Swanley boundary up to the edge of Wilmington, with residential roads either side: Emersons Avenue and the Emersons estate, Rowhill Road, Claremont Road, St David's Road and the closes behind the Heritage Centre. There is no station, the shops are a small parade by the village hall, and the bus into Dartford or Swanley is infrequent in the evening. Most households have a car; most also need a taxi when someone is flying, drinking or without the car.

Hextable Gardens & Heritage Centre

Pickups from the College Road entrance after events, weddings in the walled garden and the summer fairs. MPVs for families with pushchairs.

Emersons estate

Doorstep collection from every avenue with 15 minutes' free waiting; a text when the car is outside rather than a horn.

Rowhill & Wilmington side

Handy for Rowhill Grange and the Wilmington schools; see the Wilmington page.

Because the village is small, our drivers know it street by street, and the fare to anywhere in Hextable from Swanley station is the same £8 whichever road you live on.

THE £8 LINK

Hextable to Swanley station in five minutes

Hextable's railway station is Swanley, five to eight minutes away down College Road and across the bridge. Southeastern trains from there reach London Victoria in around 35 minutes, Thameslink runs via Bromley South to Blackfriars, Farringdon and St Pancras, and there are services south to Otford, Sevenoaks and Maidstone East. On foot it is 25 minutes, with the climb on the way home; a fixed £8 fare takes the walk out of it.

In the morning we pick you up at home with enough slack for school-run traffic on the High Street. In the evening, tell us your train and the driver follows it, parked on the Station Road forecourt and texting you the registration. The final trains from Victoria and Blackfriars get in after midnight, so it pays to book rather than rely on finding a car at the station.

  • Commuters: regular daily pickups at set times, with monthly invoicing if you want it.
  • Ebbsfleet instead: around 20 minutes along the A2 from roughly £18, for HS1 into St Pancras in 17 minutes.
  • Dartford station: from £15 if you want the Charing Cross or Cannon Street line instead of Victoria.

There is more about the town and station on the Swanley taxi page.

JUNCTION 3

Airport transfers from Hextable via the M25

Hextable is closer to the M25 than most of Dartford borough, and the Swanley interchange at Junction 3 is the reason airport fares from BR8 are good value.

AirportFromHow the driver goesTime
Gatwick£64B258 to Swanley, M25 J3 anticlockwise to J7, M2340–65 min
Heathrow£86M25 J3 clockwise to J15, or A2/A102/M4 overnight55–85 min
Stansted£90B258 to the A2, Dartford tunnel, M25 J30 to J27, M1160–90 min
London City£50A20 or A2, Blackwall Tunnel, A1340–60 min

Gatwick is a motorway-only run from the moment the car leaves Swanley, which makes the timing reliable: 40 minutes at 4am, up to an hour in the morning peak. Heathrow is the long way round the bottom of the M25 by day; overnight the driver may go through London on the A2, Blackwall Tunnel and M4 instead. Stansted goes north via the Dartford tunnel, and the Dart Charge is in the fare.

Every price includes the airport's drop-off charge (Gatwick £7, Heathrow £6, Stansted £7, City none) and ULEZ where the route crosses it. For arrivals we track the flight, wait 45 minutes free from landing and can meet you in the hall with a name board on request. See the Swanley to Gatwick page for the fuller route notes that apply to Hextable too.

NORTH ON THE B258

Hextable to Dartford, Darent Valley and Bluewater

The B258 through Wilmington takes you north from Hextable to Dartford in a quarter of an hour, and it is the road most of our daytime bookings follow.

  • Dartford town and station, from £15: the Priory Centre, Orchard Theatre, Central Park and the station on Home Gardens for Southeastern trains to Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Victoria. Train tracking on returns; see Dartford station taxis.
  • Darent Valley Hospital, from £15: across the A2 at Bean, 12 to 18 minutes, main entrance or A&E as needed. Evening visiting returns and discharge pickups at the same fixed price; wheelchair-accessible vehicle on request.
  • Bluewater, from £18: B258 to the A2 and the Bluewater junction, 15 to 22 minutes; tell us the car park or entrance and the driver drops at the doors. Late returns after the cinema can be pre-booked.
  • Wilmington and Joydens Wood: short hops from £10 for school runs, the sports clubs and Rowhill Grange.

All of these are fixed fares that do not change at night, with free child seats on request and help with shopping and luggage. Businesses in the village and on the Swanley industrial estates can set up an account on our corporate travel page.

Hextable taxi — questions

How much is a taxi from Hextable to Swanley station?

From £8 for a saloon, five to eight minutes down College Road and over the railway bridge. Trains from Swanley reach Victoria in about 35 minutes and Blackfriars via Thameslink. For a return, tell us the train and the driver tracks it and waits on the Station Road forecourt.

What does a taxi from Hextable to Gatwick cost?

A saloon starts at £64 one way and the £7 drop-off charge at Gatwick is part of that. Your driver picks up the M25 at Junction 3 next to Swanley, heads anticlockwise to Junction 7 and takes the M23 down to the airport, a 40-to-65-minute trip. First-thing departures are at the faster end.

Do you do pickups from Hextable Gardens or the Heritage Centre?

Yes. We collect from the College Road entrance after weddings, fairs and events. For a wedding party we can send a 6- or 8-seater and agree a pickup time with whoever is organising. Tell us the event finish time and we will be waiting a few minutes before.

How far is Dartford from Hextable by taxi?

Twelve to twenty minutes north on the B258 through Wilmington, from £15 for a saloon. Dartford station, the Priory Centre and Darent Valley Hospital are the usual drops. The fare is the same at night and includes waiting of up to 15 minutes at your door.

Is Heathrow from Hextable via the M25?

By day, yes: Junction 3 clockwise round to Junction 15, 55 to 85 minutes. Overnight the driver may go through London on the A2, Blackwall Tunnel and M4 if it is running quicker. Either way the fare is from £86 with the £6 terminal charge and ULEZ included.

Can I get a taxi from Hextable to Bluewater late at night?

Yes, from £18 at any hour. The driver takes the B258 to the A2 and the Bluewater junction, 15 to 22 minutes. Tell us which entrance, for example the cinema doors or the M&S side, and book the return before you go so the car is there when the film ends.

How much is Hextable to Bromley?

Bromley is from £25 and takes 22 to 32 minutes, either along the A20 and A222 or round the M25 to Junction 4 and up the A21. We regularly drop at Bromley South station, the Glades and the Princess Royal University Hospital. Your fare is agreed at booking and does not change.

What cars do you have for a family from Hextable?

Saloons for four with two large cases, estates with extra boot space, 6-seat MPVs and 8-seat minibuses, plus executive Mercedes E-Class and V-Class. MPVs cost around 25% more than a saloon and 8-seaters around 50% more. Child seats are fitted free if requested when booking.
