Crayford Taxi
Crayford station sits on the Sidcup line with the A2 roaring past just to the south – which makes it one of the easiest places in the borough to get a car to an airport, and one of the hardest to find a car late at night. Taxi On The Go is a Dartford firm four minutes up the A226, and we serve Crayford, Barnes Cray, Slade Green borders and Tower Retail Park with pre-booked, fixed-fare private hire around the clock. Fares are on the price list.
For Crayford DA1, Taxi On The Go offers pre-booked private hire at fixed prices: Dartford from £8, Bexleyheath from £9, Bluewater from £15, London City Airport from £40, Central London from £48, Gatwick from £70, Stansted from £82 and Heathrow from £90. Licensed drivers at every hour, with nothing added for booking or paying by card. Reserve online, through WhatsApp or by phoning 020 8888 9988.

Meeting you off the train at Crayford
Crayford station is a small two-platform stop on the Sidcup line between Bexley and Dartford, with Southeastern trains to London Charing Cross and Cannon Street in around 40 minutes. There is no proper taxi rank, and the station approach off Station Road is narrow, so we ask you to book ahead and tell us which platform side you are coming out of. The driver will wait on Station Road or in the small forecourt, whichever is clearer.
We track your train. Give us the service you are on – say the 23:12 from Charing Cross – and if it is held at Lewisham, the pickup moves with it. That matters at Crayford because the last trains arrive after midnight and the street is quiet.
Connections we cover from the station
- Dartford station for the North Kent line, Victoria fast services and Thameslink – from £8.
- Ebbsfleet International for HS1 to St Pancras in 17 minutes – from £16, around a quarter of an hour via the A2.
- Abbey Wood for the Elizabeth line – from £14.
- Bexleyheath station on the Bexleyheath line – from £9.
For a regular commute we can set up a standing booking so the same car meets the same train each evening without you having to rebook.
Crayford's spot on the A2 – and what it means for airport times
Crayford sits right on the A2 between the Black Prince interchange and the Dartford Heath junction, with the M25 at Junction 2 barely three miles east. That geography is why airport times from here are shorter than the rest of Bexley borough.
Gatwick – from £70
A2 east to M25 J2, clockwise to J7, M23 to the terminals. 45–65 minutes off-peak. Drop-off charge £7 included.
Heathrow – from £90
M25 anticlockwise from J2 to J15 by day; A2, Blackwall Tunnel and M4 after 10pm. 60–85 minutes. £6 drop-off included.
Stansted – from £82
QEII bridge or tunnels via the Crossing, M25 to J27, M11 to J8. Dart Charge and £7 drop-off in the price.
London City – from £40
A2, A102 to Blackwall, A13 to Silvertown. 25–40 minutes. No drop-off charge at City.
Heading north over the Dartford Crossing, the northbound run uses the tunnels and southbound comes back over the bridge. The £2.50 Dart Charge is in every fare we quote. If the Crossing is shut – high winds on the bridge or a tunnel closure – the driver will go the long way and the price still holds. Details on each airport are on our airport transfers page.
Tower Retail Park, Crayford Waterside and the former stadium site
A lot of our Crayford bookings are short local runs. Tower Retail Park on Crayford Road is the big one – shoppers coming out of the supermarket with a full trolley, or getting back from the retail units with something that will not fit on the bus. We collect from the car park by whichever store you name, from £6 to most of Crayford and £8 to Dartford.
The Crayford Waterside area along the River Cray and the Crayford Road roundabout by the former greyhound stadium site are the other landmarks people give us. The stadium closed and the site is being redeveloped, so if you are visiting the new housing there give us the road name rather than 'the dogs' and we will find it.
Other regular local trips
- Hall Place and Gardens on Bourne Road – from £7.
- Crayford Town Hall and the parade for a night out – from £6 back to Barnes Cray or Slade Green.
- Darent Valley Hospital – from £10, appointments and discharges, with a wheelchair vehicle if booked ahead.
- Bluewater – from £15 via the A2 and Bean.
- Dartford's Orchard Theatre – from £8, with a booked return waiting when the show ends.
Barnes Cray, Crayford Marshes, Maiden Lane, Perry Street and the London Road stretch towards Bexleyheath are all covered at the same fixed rates.
The case for pre-booking a Crayford car rather than gambling on an app
Crayford is a place of terraces and semis rather than bars and clubs, so once the evening rush is over the app cars drift away. At 11pm on a Tuesday the closest available driver might be in Bexleyheath or over the river, and by the time demand ticks up the estimate on your screen is no longer what you pay.
Booking private hire ahead works differently. You tell us what you need, we give you a single fixed figure for that vehicle, and a named driver is put on the job. A tailback at the Black Prince or a closed Crossing changes nothing.
- Licensed drivers – each one private hire licensed, DBS-checked and insured for hire and reward.
- Pay how you like – cash, card in the car with nothing added, or monthly invoicing for firms on Crayford's industrial estates.
- The right vehicle – saloon, estate, six-seat MPV, eight-seat minibus or executive Mercedes.
- Waiting at no charge – 15 minutes at your door, 45 minutes in an airport arrivals hall.
- Child seats – free, just give us the ages.
Because we operate from Dartford, our cars are never more than a few minutes from Crayford, whatever the hour. That is what separates a local firm from a platform in practice: at 3am someone picks up the phone and knows where Maiden Lane is.
Barnes Cray, Slade Green borders, Bexley and beyond
Our Crayford cover runs from the Dartford boundary at Shepherds Lane across to Bexley village and up to the Slade Green side of Crayford Marshes. That takes in Barnes Cray, Perry Street, Maiden Lane, Old Road, Crayford Way and the Crayford Road corridor towards Bexleyheath.
Longer runs from Crayford
Beyond the airports we drive to the cruise terminals – Tilbury from £28 over the Crossing, Dover from £85 and Southampton from £150 – and to Central London from £48. Bromley, Sevenoaks, Maidstone and Medway are all regular fixed-fare destinations. Long-distance quotes to anywhere in the UK are on the long distance page.

Crayford taxi FAQs
How much is a taxi from Crayford to Dartford?
From £8 for a saloon, one way, taking five to ten minutes along the A226 London Road or via Shepherds Lane. Dartford station, the Priory Centre, the Orchard Theatre and Darent Valley Hospital are all within a couple of pounds of that.
Can you pick up from Crayford station late at night?
Yes. Book before you board, tell us the train, and the driver will be on Station Road when you come out. We track Southeastern services, so if the last Charing Cross train is delayed the driver waits at no extra cost. There is no rank at Crayford, so booking is the only reliable option.
What does a Crayford to Gatwick taxi cost?
A saloon is from £70, with the £7 drop-off charge for North or South Terminal already counted. The route out of Crayford is the A2 to Junction 2 of the M25, clockwise round to Junction 7, then the M23 – usually 45 to 65 minutes once the morning rush is out of the way.
Do you collect from Tower Retail Park?
All the time. Tell us which store you will be outside and the driver will pull into the car park by that entrance. Short hops to anywhere in Crayford are from £6, Dartford from £8 and Bexleyheath from £9, and an estate car is handy if you have bulky purchases.
How long is Crayford to Heathrow by taxi?
Typically 60 to 85 minutes, from £90 with Heathrow's £6 terminal drop-off in the price. In daylight the driver runs the M25 anticlockwise from Junction 2 round to Junction 15; in the small hours the A2, Blackwall Tunnel and M4 is often quicker. On the return leg we track your flight and you have 45 minutes' free waiting.
Is the Dartford Crossing toll included in your fares?
Yes. Any fare that crosses the river – Stansted, Luton via the M25, Tilbury, Lakeside – includes the £2.50 Dart Charge. Northbound uses the tunnels, southbound the QEII bridge. If the Crossing is closed the driver reroutes and your fixed price does not change.
Which vehicle sizes can I book in Crayford?
A saloon seats four with two large suitcases; an estate carries extra luggage; and beyond that we run a six-seat MPV, an eight-seat minibus and an executive Mercedes E-Class or V-Class. Allow about a quarter over the saloon fare for an MPV and around 50% over for a minibus.
Can I pay by card or get an invoice?
Card and cash are both taken in the car with no surcharge. Businesses in Crayford and on the surrounding industrial estates can open an account and receive a monthly invoice – see the corporate travel page.
Do you go from Crayford to the Elizabeth line at Abbey Wood?
From £14, about 15 to 20 minutes via Erith and the A2016 or up through Bexleyheath depending on traffic. It is a useful option for Canary Wharf or Heathrow by rail, and we can bring you back from Abbey Wood after the last train too.
