M25 CLOCKWISE

Ebbsfleet, the A2, junction 2 and the M23

Out of the station forecourt, onto the A2 westbound past Bluewater, off at the M25 junction 2 roundabout and onto the motorway clockwise. Five junctions later, at J7, the M23 branches off south. Gatwick is M23 junction 9, with the airport spur road splitting for North and South Terminals.

What makes the difference to journey time is the stretch between M25 J3 and J7. Outside the peaks it is a 50-minute run from the forecourt to the terminal. In the weekday rush hours, and on Friday afternoons through the summer, the same stretch can add 20–25 minutes.

If the M25 is shut

Overnight closures for roadworks between J5 and J7 do happen. The driver will use the A25 through Westerham and Oxted, or the A21 and A264 via Tunbridge Wells, and tell you the revised timing. The fare stays as quoted. There is no cross-London alternative worth taking for Gatwick; it is the M25 or the A-roads.

For a run to the other airport, Ebbsfleet to Heathrow is 52 miles anticlockwise on the same motorway. The Gatwick transfers page has terminal detail and airline groupings.

OFF THE TRAIN, INTO THE CAR

Meeting your Southeastern high-speed train at Ebbsfleet

Plenty of Gatwick bookings from Ebbsfleet start on a 17-minute high-speed train from St Pancras or Stratford International.

What we need: your train time, or at least the departure station and rough arrival. We track Southeastern services into Ebbsfleet and move the driver if the train slips. Fifteen minutes' waiting at the station is free once the train is in.

Where you find the car: the pickup lane on the forecourt outside the main concourse doors. The driver's name and registration are texted to you in advance. If you prefer to be met inside at the barriers with a name board, request it when booking; the charge is around £10.

The station car parks are also a common start point for people driving in from further afield and leaving the car for a week. Tell us which car park and the driver comes to the barrier. Eurostar no longer stops at Ebbsfleet; continental arrivals come via St Pancras and the high-speed connection.

Local fares from the station, including Bluewater and Gravesend, are on the Ebbsfleet International taxi page.

WORK IT BACKWARDS

Leaving Northfleet or Ebbsfleet for a Gatwick departure

Suggested pickup times from the Ebbsfleet area, assuming a saloon and normal roads:

FlightPickup at EbbsfleetPickup in Gravesend
06:0003:0002:50
08:30 (peak roads)05:1505:05
13:0010:0009:50
19:00 (Friday)15:3015:20

The 8.30am and Friday evening rows carry an extra 20 minutes because the M25 between Sevenoaks and the M23 is at its slowest then. If you are travelling with hand luggage only and have checked in online, you can trim these by 15–20 minutes.

The night before a pre-dawn flight, the Bluewater and Ebbsfleet hotels are a popular stopover for people coming from further east in Kent, and we collect from any of them. A 3am forecourt or hotel pickup is the same fixed fare as any other time, and the roads at that hour make it the fastest run of the day. See early morning transfers for how the pre-dawn bookings work.

GATWICK TO NORTH KENT

Collecting you at Gatwick for the run home to DA10 and DA11

After a long flight, a driver who is already waiting is worth a great deal.

  • Flight tracked. Give us the flight number and we follow it. Early, late or diverted, the driver adjusts.
  • 45 minutes' free waiting from touchdown, which covers passport control and baggage reclaim at either terminal on a normal day.
  • Meet in arrivals with a name board, on request at around £10, and a walk to the short-stay car park. Or call when you have your bags and the driver comes to the pickup point at no extra cost.

Short-stay parking for the meet is included in the fare. From South Terminal the car joins the M23 northbound directly; from North it is the same road via the airport roundabout. Then M25 anticlockwise from J7 to J2, A2 eastbound, and off at Ebbsfleet, Northfleet or Gravesend.

We drop at the station if you are collecting a car, at the Garden City estates, or anywhere in Gravesend, Northfleet and Swanscombe. Fares to each are in the table above. More detail on arrivals meetings is on our meet and greet page.
