Gravesend to Gatwick Airport Taxi
Two junctions of the M25 do most of the work on this run: you join at Junction 2 off the A2 and leave at Junction 7 for the M23, and Gatwick is ten minutes beyond that. Taxi On The Go covers Gravesend to Gatwick 24 hours a day at a fixed fare from £80 with the £7 terminal drop-off charge already in the price. Book online or WhatsApp 020 8888 9988 for an exact quote.
Gravesend to Gatwick Airport by taxi is from £80 one way for a standard saloon, and the £7 drop-off charge is already in that figure. It is about 40 miles – A2 to Junction 2 of the M25, round to Junction 7, then the M23 – taking 55–80 minutes. Taxi On The Go is a Dartford-based private hire firm: booked ahead, fixed price, available at any hour, with every airport collection flight-tracked.
What a Gravesend to Gatwick taxi costs
Guide prices for a saloon (four passengers, two large cases) one way to either Gatwick terminal. The £7 drop-off charge is built in and there are no tolls on this route, so the figure you are quoted is what you pay. Villages east of Gravesend add a few pounds because they sit further from the A2; Meopham is slightly cheaper as it is closer to the M25.

A2, M25 and M23: the road from Gravesend to Gatwick
From Gravesend the driver heads west on the A2 past the Ebbsfleet and Bean junctions and joins the M25 at Junction 2, the Darenth interchange, heading anti-clockwise. From there it is motorway all the way: through the Swanley interchange at Junction 3, past Sevenoaks at Junction 5, over the Surrey border, and off at Junction 7 onto the M23 southbound. Gatwick is Junction 9 of the M23, and the terminal roads are signed North and South from the roundabout.
On a clear evening this is a 55-minute run. In the morning peak the stretch between Junction 3 and Junction 5 backs up, and on Friday afternoons the M23 slows near Junction 8 where the Reigate traffic joins. We plan around both.
- Meopham and Istead Rise pickups usually go via the A227 to the A2 at Tollgate, saving a loop through town.
- Chalk, Shorne and Higham join the A2 at the Shorne junction, adding five minutes.
- Northfleet joins at the Ebbsfleet junction, so it is no slower than the town centre.
Picking a pickup time from Gravesend
Gatwick asks short-haul passengers to be at the terminal two hours before departure and long-haul three. Add the road time, then add a buffer for the M25. This is what we suggest for a Gravesend town centre pickup.
| Flight departs | Leave Gravesend | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 06:00–08:00 | 2h 45m before | Roads are empty; the buffer is for check-in queues |
| 08:00–10:00 | 3h 15m before | Peak M25 between J3 and J5 |
| 10:00–16:00 | 3h before | Steady traffic, occasional M23 roadworks |
| 16:00–19:00 | 3h 15m before | Evening peak on the M25 and M23 |
| 19:00–midnight | 2h 45m before | Clear run, 55–60 minutes |
For flights before 6am, book a night or early-morning pickup the day before. Our drivers are on the road all night, and a 3am collection from Gravesend is routine rather than a special request.
Why Gravesend passengers pre-book instead of taking the train
Gravesend to Gatwick by rail means Southeastern into London, a change at London Bridge or Victoria, and then a Thameslink or Gatwick Express train back out. Door to door it takes over two hours, and with luggage and children it is an unpleasant two hours. A fixed-fare car is quicker, and for two or more people it is usually cheaper than the combined rail tickets.
Against driving yourself
A week in Gatwick's long-stay car park costs more than our return fares, and you still have the shuttle bus at both ends. With us the car is at your door and the driver handles the bags.
Against ride-hail apps
App prices in Gravesend at 4am are unpredictable and surge on busy mornings. Our fare is agreed when you book and does not change. The driver knows the address, the flight and the terminal before they set off.
Landing at Gatwick and getting home to DA11 or DA12
Give us your inbound flight number and we track it from departure. If you land early the driver is already nearby; if you are held in the air the pickup moves without you calling anyone. The 45 minutes of free waiting starts from the actual landing time, which is enough to clear e-gates and collect bags from either terminal in normal conditions.
Standard pickups use the short-stay car parks: North Terminal Short Stay on Level 3 and South Terminal Short Stay on Level 3, both a two-minute lift ride from arrivals. Your driver messages you the exact bay and their registration once parked. If you prefer to be met inside, meet and greet with a name board at the arrivals barrier is available on request for a £10 guide charge.
Late arrivals are common at Gatwick, especially on the summer holiday flights that land after 11pm. The run back to Gravesend at that hour is 50–55 minutes along an empty M25, and the driver can drop at more than one address in Gravesend for families splitting up at the end of a trip. Say so when you book and we will price the extra stop.
Gravesend districts and villages we collect from
Our Gatwick fare covers the whole of Gravesend and the villages that use it as their town. Postcode is what sets the exact price, and these are the areas we run to the airport most often.
- Gravesend town centre and station — including the Windmill Street and Harmer Street flats, the Heritage Quarter and pickups from the station forecourt for people arriving by train from the Medway towns.
- Riverview Park and Singlewell — the estates south of the A2, which join the motorway at Tollgate.
- Chalk and Shorne — the eastern edge of the town, joining the A2 at the Shorne junction.
- Higham — technically ME3, still priced as a Gravesend pickup.
- Northfleet — Springhead Park, Perry Street and the streets around Ebbsfleet United's ground.
- Istead Rise and Meopham — the villages along the A227, which are closer to the M25 and so a little cheaper.

Gravesend to Gatwick taxi — your questions
How much is a taxi from Gravesend to Gatwick Airport?
A standard saloon starts at £80 one way, with the £7 drop-off charge included in that. Northfleet, Singlewell and Istead Rise cost the same; Chalk and Shorne are from £82–£84, Higham from £86, and Meopham from £78. Add roughly a quarter for a 6-seat MPV and roughly half for an 8-seater.
How long does it take to drive from Gravesend to Gatwick?
Between 55 and 80 minutes. The A2 to M25 Junction 2 takes about ten minutes, the M25 from Junction 2 to Junction 7 about 35 minutes off-peak, and the M23 to the terminals another ten. Morning and evening peaks on the M25 between Junction 3 and Junction 5 add the rest.
Which way do you go, and is there a toll?
A2 westbound, M25 anti-clockwise from Junction 2 to Junction 7, then the M23 south to Junction 9. No Dartford Crossing, no Dart Charge and no ULEZ, so nothing is added to the fare beyond the Gatwick drop-off charge, which we include.
Can you collect me from Gravesend station?
Yes. Tell us your arrival train and we will meet you on the forecourt by the Rathmore Road entrance. The Gatwick fare from the station is the same £80 as the town centre. If you are coming over on the Tilbury ferry we can collect from the Town Pier instead.
Do you do early flights from Gravesend to Gatwick?
Every day. A 6am departure means a 3:15am pickup in Gravesend, and we have drivers on the road through the night. Book the day before, give us the flight number, and the driver will message you when they are outside.
Where will the driver pick me up at Gatwick?
Level 3 of the Short Stay car park at whichever terminal you arrive into – it is Level 3 at both North and South. The driver texts you the bay and the registration. If you would prefer to be met with a name board at the arrivals barrier, request meet and greet when you book.
What if my flight back to Gravesend is delayed?
We track the flight, so the pickup moves with it. Your 45 minutes of free waiting only begins when the aircraft actually lands. You will not be charged for the delay itself, and you do not need to call us to update the time.
Is Gatwick North or South Terminal, and does it change the fare?
It does not. Both terminals are on the same roundabout at M23 Junction 9 and the fare is identical. Check your airline: easyJet and British Airways use both terminals depending on the flight, so confirm the terminal on your booking and tell the driver.
