Through the Dartford tunnel to the M11
Stansted is the one airport where Gravesend has to cross the Thames. The driver takes the A2 west to the M25 at Junction 2 and stays on the M25 clockwise through Junction 1a to the crossing. Northbound traffic uses the two tunnels rather than the QEII bridge, so this is the direction least affected by high winds. Out the other side you are on the M25 through Essex: Junction 30 at Thurrock, Junction 28 at Brentwood, then off at Junction 27 onto the M11 northbound. Stansted is Junction 8 of the M11, and the airport road takes you straight to the terminal forecourt.

There is no direct public transport between Gravesend and Stansted. By rail you go into London on Southeastern or the high-speed service from Ebbsfleet, cross to Liverpool Street or Tottenham Hale, then take the Stansted Express: two and a half hours if every connection works, and the first trains do not run early enough for a 6am flight. Coach services from Kent to Stansted stop many times and take longer still.

Meeting you at Stansted for the run back to Kent
Stansted has a single terminal, which keeps the pickup simple. Give us the inbound flight number and the driver tracks it from take-off. Your 45 minutes of free waiting begins when the aircraft is on the ground, and it is generous enough for non-EU passport queues on most nights.
Two options for meeting:
- Short Stay car park pickup. Standard and included. Walk out of arrivals, cross the road to the Short Stay Orange car park, and the driver messages you the bay. Two minutes with a trolley.
- Meet and greet in the arrivals hall. On request, guide charge £10. The driver waits at the barrier with a name board, useful for older relatives or anyone arriving after a long flight.
The drive home is the reverse route, back down the M11 and M25 and over the QEII bridge southbound into Kent. Late at night the bridge is the fastest way home, and you get the view of the river before the driver drops you at the door in Gravesend.
