Dartford to Liverpool Street Taxi

The A13 into Commercial Road is quiet at 5am, which is when most of our Liverpool Street jobs run: people from Dartford, Erith and Gravesend catching the first Stansted Express or a Greater Anglia train to Norwich, Ipswich or the Harwich boat. TUNNEL OR A13

Two ways from Dartford to Bishopsgate

Liverpool Street is the eastern edge of the City, so the driver has a choice. By day the usual line is A2, A102 and the Blackwall Tunnel, A12 to Bow, then west on the A11 along Mile End Road and Whitechapel Road to Aldgate, finishing up Bishopsgate. The other option, favoured early in the morning, is to leave the A2 at the Blackwall approach and take the A13 East India Dock Road into Commercial Road, which joins Whitechapel at Aldgate East.

Both cross the river at Blackwall, so a tunnel closure sends the driver south instead: Old Kent Road, Tower Bridge Road, over Tower Bridge and up Minories to Aldgate. That version is inside the same fixed fare.

Drop-off points

  • Bishopsgate entrance — the main doors opposite Broadgate, closest to the Stansted Express platforms.
  • Liverpool Street taxi rank — on Liverpool Street itself, at the south side of the station, handy for the Elizabeth line and the Underground.
  • Broadgate and Spitalfields — offices on Bishopsgate, Exchange Square or Brushfield Street are the same price.
STANSTED EXPRESS AND EAST ANGLIA

When to leave Dartford for a train from Liverpool Street

The Stansted Express runs every 15 to 30 minutes and takes about 50 minutes to the airport, so add that to your check-in time when planning. Greater Anglia advance fares to Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge are train-specific, and the boat train to Harwich International connects with the Stena sailing, which will not wait.

The tunnel approach and Whitechapel are the morning problem; Commercial Road backs up in the afternoon. Erith can leave ten minutes after these figures; Gravesend fifteen before. Flying from Stansted? The direct Dartford to Stansted run is from £80 and skips the train altogether. Sailing from Harwich? See Harwich ferry port taxis.

CANNON STREET IS NOT LIVERPOOL STREET

Why people book a car for Liverpool Street from Dartford

Southeastern from Dartford goes to Cannon Street, Charing Cross and Victoria, none of which is Liverpool Street. Reaching it means a walk from Cannon Street across the City or a Tube change, which is fine on a weekday morning and less fine with holiday luggage at 5am.

First Stansted Express

Early flights from Stansted need a train that leaves before Southeastern has started from Dartford.

Suitcases for Norfolk or Suffolk

A week on the coast means four cases and a cool bag. The car drops you at the Bishopsgate doors, no Tube stairs.

City meetings

Broadgate, Spitalfields and the insurance district around Leadenhall are all one drop, and firms in Crossways settle by monthly invoice.

Elizabeth line connections

Heathrow or Canary Wharf via the Elizabeth line from the Liverpool Street entrance.

The quote we confirm is the price you pay, whatever the tunnel does.

OFF THE STANSTED EXPRESS

Collecting you from Liverpool Street and heading home

Send the train time and where it started — Stansted, Norwich, Harwich, Cambridge — and we track it on the live board. A late arrival moves the driver, not your free waiting time, which begins when the train pulls in.

The meeting point is the Liverpool Street taxi rank on the south side of the station: come down from the concourse to the Liverpool Street exit, where the driver's registration will already be in your messages. Coming off the Elizabeth line, use the Liverpool Street entrance rather than the Moorgate end, which is a good walk away.

If you would like a named board at the top of the escalators, ask when booking; the guide charge is £10. If your City day ends with a late dinner, the late night London taxi page covers pickups after midnight. For other termini see Dartford to St Pancras and Dartford to Euston.

Dartford to Liverpool Street taxi — questions

How much is a taxi from Dartford to Liverpool Street?

A saloon is from £52 one way with ULEZ inside the figure. Erith is from £44, Bexleyheath and Sidcup £48, Greenhithe and Swanley £56, Gravesend £64. Out of Dartford the 6-seat MPV starts at £65 and the 8-seat minibus at £78.

Where will the driver drop me at Liverpool Street?

At the Bishopsgate entrance by default, the main doors opposite Broadgate and nearest the Stansted Express platforms. Ask for the taxi rank on Liverpool Street itself if you want the Elizabeth line or the Underground.

Is it better to take a taxi to Liverpool Street for the Stansted Express or go straight to Stansted?

Straight to Stansted, usually. The direct car is from £80 and takes 55–80 minutes; Liverpool Street plus the Stansted Express takes longer once you add the train and the platform walk. The station makes sense if you have business in the City first.

How long does Dartford to Liverpool Street take?

40–70 minutes over 17 miles. The Blackwall approach and Whitechapel set the morning pace; Commercial Road the afternoon. Before 6am it is around 40 minutes.

Which route does the driver use?

A2, Blackwall Tunnel, A12 and A11 through Whitechapel by day, or the A13 and Commercial Road early in the morning. If the tunnel is shut the driver goes via Tower Bridge. All three are the same fixed fare.

Can you pick me up at Liverpool Street after the Stansted Express?

Yes. Tell us the train and we watch it live; the driver waits at the Liverpool Street rank on the south side and messages the registration as it pulls in. The free waiting clock starts on arrival.

Do you cover the Harwich boat train from Liverpool Street?

Yes, and we can also drive you directly to Harwich International, which is often easier with ferry luggage. Tell us the sailing and we will quote both options.

Is the ULEZ charge included in the £52?

Yes. The car enters the zone at the Bexley border and stays in it, so the daily charge forms part of the fare. No Dart Charge applies as the crossing is never used.
