Saloon prices, one way, for up to four people and two large cases. Heathrow is the longest airport-to-Dover run because it sits on the far west of the M25. Cruise luggage usually needs the estate or the MPV; the larger vehicle rows are priced from Heathrow.

M25 TO THE WHITE CLIFFS

Heathrow to Dover Western Docks by road

The driver leaves the terminal onto the M25 at Junction 14 (Terminal 5) or Junction 15 via the M4 spur (Terminals 2, 3 and 4) and heads clockwise, the long way round the south of London: past the M3 and M23 junctions, over the Surrey hills, through Kent to Junction 2 at Dartford. The A2 then runs east past Bluewater and Gravesend and becomes the M2 at Strood, past Medway and Sittingbourne to Junction 7 at Brenley Corner, and the A2 carries on around Canterbury and down into Dover, where the Western Docks are signed off the A20 at the foot of the hill.

Clear, that is roughly 50 minutes to Dartford, 45 more to Brenley Corner and 30 into the port. The M25 between Junctions 8 and 12 in the morning peak and the Clacket Lane stretch on Friday afternoons are what stretch the run towards 2h40. No toll applies: Heathrow and Dover are on the same side of the river, and the motorway keeps you outside the ULEZ.

Cruise Terminal 1 is the older building nearest the marina; Cruise Terminal 2 is further along the Admiralty Pier. The driver goes to whichever is on your documents.

LANDING TO BOARDING

Matching the pickup to your flight and your check-in window

Cruise lines at Dover open check-in a few hours before departure and close it, firmly, around an hour before the ship sails. Add the Heathrow arrivals process — immigration, reclaim, customs — and the drive, and the maths works like this.

Ship departsLatest sensible landingNotes
16:00–17:0009:30Comfortable, includes 45 min at arrivals
16:00–17:0011:30Workable off-peak; tight if the flight slips
AnyDay beforeOur advice for long-haul; hotel to port next morning

We track the flight from departure, so a late landing moves the driver rather than you, and the 45 minutes of free waiting starts when the aircraft is on the stand. If the timings look tight we will say so; a Dover hotel the night before, with Heathrow to the hotel and the port next morning as two singles, is often the better answer.

Coming home, tell us which disembarkation group you are in and what time you fly, and we suggest a pickup with margin for the M25.

T2, T3, T4 OR T5

Where the driver meets you at Heathrow

Give us the flight number and the terminal follows from it. When you land the driver is already heading to the short stay car park for that terminal, and a text with the registration and bay reaches you at reclaim.

  • Terminal 2 — Short Stay Car Park 2, a lift ride from arrivals.
  • Terminal 3 — Short Stay 3, reached by a covered walkway.
  • Terminal 4 — Short Stay 4, across the road from arrivals.
  • Terminal 5 — Short Stay 5, one level up from the arrivals hall.

With meet and greet the driver is inside the barrier holding a board with your name on it and takes the trolley from there; guide charge £10. We suggest it for older travellers, for anyone off a long-haul overnight, and for groups who would otherwise be finding each other across four terminals.

A CAR VS THE TRAIN

Why a fixed-fare car makes sense for this transfer

The public transport alternative is the Elizabeth line into London, a transfer to St Pancras, HS1 to Dover Priory and a local cab to the docks: four vehicles with cruise luggage. A pre-booked car is one vehicle and one price.

Price known before you fly

£160 is confirmed by email before departure. A slow M25 costs the driver time, not you money.

Flight tracked, ship in mind

We know your sailing time as well as your landing time and plan around both.

Straight to the terminal door

Cruise Terminal 1 or 2 as named on your documents.

Groups and families

An MPV from £200 or a minibus from £240 keeps the party and its luggage together.

The same team covers Gatwick to Dover, Heathrow to Southampton and Heathrow to Tilbury.

Heathrow to Dover cruise taxi — questions

How much is a taxi from Heathrow to Dover cruise terminal?

From £160 one way for a saloon from any terminal; a 6-seat MPV is from £200 and an 8-seater from £240. Gatwick to Dover is from £120, London City £110, Stansted £150 and Luton £170.

How long does it take from Heathrow to Dover?

Between 1h50 and 2h40 for about 95 miles. The M25 between Junction 8 and Junction 12 in the morning peak and the Friday afternoon crawl near Clacket Lane are what push the run to the top of that range.

Which Dover terminal will you take me to?

Whichever is on your cruise documents. Cruise Terminal 1 is the older building nearest the marina; Cruise Terminal 2 is further along the Admiralty Pier. Both are at Western Docks; the Eastern Docks is the ferry port.

What time should my flight land for an afternoon sailing from Dover?

For a ship leaving around 16:00, a landing by 09:30 is comfortable and 11:30 is workable off-peak. Later than that we would suggest staying in Dover overnight and running to the port after breakfast.

Where does the driver meet me at Heathrow Terminal 5?

In Short Stay Car Park 5, one level up from arrivals, with the bay and registration texted to you at reclaim. Prefer the barrier with a name board? Ask for meet and greet, guide charge £10.

Will you wait if my flight into Heathrow is delayed?

Yes. We follow the flight from departure and the driver adjusts. The 45 minutes of free waiting begins when the aircraft lands rather than at the scheduled time, so a delay in the air costs nothing.

Can you take us from Dover back to Heathrow after the cruise?

Yes, Dover to Heathrow is the same £160. Tell us your disembarkation group and flight; the driver is outside the terminal when you come off, and the £6 Heathrow drop-off charge is included.

What vehicle do we need for four people with cruise luggage?

A saloon takes two large cases. Four people with a big case each and hand luggage need the 6-seat MPV from £200.
